Victory Fellowship Church

Dayton, VA | 13,770 SF | General Contractor: Skyline Roofing, Inc.

Problem:

Victory Fellowship Church faced significant issues with their aging roof. The existing shingles were deteriorating, leading to leaks and potential water damage inside the church. The substrate needed a thorough inspection to ensure no hidden damage would compromise the new roof. Additionally, the EPDM membrane roofs required attention to repair small tears, punctures, and holes. The church also needed a reliable solution to manage snow accumulation and prevent damage caused by sliding snow and ice.

Solution:

Skyline Roofing provided a comprehensive solution to address all the issues faced by Victory Fellowship Church. The project began with the careful removal and off-site disposal of the existing shingles and underlayment. Our team then conducted a thorough inspection of the substrate, replacing any damaged or deteriorated wood sheathing to ensure a solid foundation for the new roof.

To protect against ice and water damage, we installed an ice and water shield along the eaves and valleys. The remaining roof area was covered with a synthetic underlayment to provide additional protection and longevity.

For the main roofing material, we chose a 26-gauge, Kynar finish, 16” nail strip snap lock panel with 1” standing seams. This material offers exceptional durability and aesthetic appeal, along with comprehensive flashings and associated trims to ensure a weather-tight seal.

The EPDM membrane roofs were meticulously inspected, and all identified small tears, punctures, holes, and flashings were repaired using non-reinforced EPDM flashings and accessories. This step was crucial to maintain the integrity and waterproofing of the flat roof sections.

To address the snow accumulation problem, we installed a row of alternating height rib-mounted snow guards along the eaves. Additionally, a double row of snow guards was added to the back of the roof for extra protection. These snow guards will help manage snow and ice, preventing damage to the roof and ensuring the safety of the church premises.

Outcome:

The roof replacement project at Victory Fellowship Church was completed successfully, resulting in a durable, aesthetically pleasing, and weather-tight roofing system. The combination of high-quality materials and expert craftsmanship ensures that the church's new roof will provide reliable protection for many years to come. The addition of snow guards has significantly enhanced the safety and functionality of the roof, effectively managing snow and ice accumulation.

Victory Fellowship Church now enjoys a renewed sense of security and comfort, knowing their roof is equipped to handle the elements and protect their cherished space.
