Living Faith Church

Franklin, WV |  SF: 16,858 | General Contractor: Skyline Roofing, Inc.

Living Faith Church in Franklin, WV, recently underwent a comprehensive roofing retrofit to enhance durability, insulation, and overall aesthetic appeal. The project covered both the main church roof and the storage building roof, integrating advanced roofing materials and techniques to ensure a seamless upgrade.

For the main roof, the project began with the removal and off-site disposal of 24 lightning rods. To enhance insulation, 1.5# EPS was loose-laid between the ribs of the existing metal panels, followed by an overlay of a single layer of 20 PSI 1” polyiso insulation. Wood blocking was installed along the exposed edges to match the new insulation heights, creating a level surface for the roofing membrane. A white 60 mil TPO membrane was then mechanically fastened (induction welded), complete with flashings, details, and terminations per the manufacturer’s specifications, providing a durable, energy-efficient, and waterproof roofing solution. To further protect and enhance the roof, new 24-gauge, Kynar finish, shop-fabricated gravel stop was installed along the rake edges, along with new 24-gauge, Kynar finish, shop-fabricated box gutters complete with 3” x 4” corrugated downspouts to grade for efficient water drainage.

The storage building roof received similar attention, beginning with the removal and off-site disposal of 3 lightning rods and 2 hot stacks, with metal panels patched to maintain the roof's integrity. Insulation improvements included loose-laying 1.5# EPS between the ribs of the existing metal panels and overlaying it with a single layer of 20 PSI 1” polyiso insulation. Wood blocking was installed to match the new insulation heights, providing necessary support for the new roofing system. The white 60 mil TPO membrane was then mechanically fastened (induction welded) with all necessary flashings, details, and terminations according to the manufacturer’s specifications, ensuring a robust and waterproof roof covering. Finally, new 24-gauge, Kynar finish, shop-fabricated gravel stop was added along the rake edges to protect against wind uplift and water infiltration, and new 24-gauge, Kynar finish, shop-fabricated box gutters with 3” x 4” corrugated downspouts to grade were installed for effective water management. This roofing retrofit project at Living Faith Church significantly improved the buildings' thermal performance, water drainage, and overall appearance.
