Kyger Funeral Home
Elkton, VA | 17,250 SF | General Contractor: Bridgestone Construction
This commercial roof replacement project was a crucial component of an extensive renovation project with the general contractor. The project showcases a seamless blend of superior materials and impeccable craftsmanship to fortify the roofing system of this essential establishment. This project for Kyger Funeral Home commenced with the meticulous removal and responsible off-site disposal of existing shingles, clearing the way for a new roofing solution. To ensure absolute watertight integrity, a comprehensive ice and water shield were meticulously installed, adhering strictly to warranty specifications.
The project then saw the installation of 24-gauge MRS System (Metal Roofing System) 2000 panels with 1.75-inch standing seams, offering both durability and a contemporary aesthetic appeal. Every detail mattered, as all flashing, trims, and pipe boots were executed with precision, strictly following the manufacturer's specifications to prevent potential leaks. Architectural drawings guided the installation of a vented ridge cap, promoting optimal ventilation while preserving the roofing system's robustness. Safety was further enhanced with the incorporation of a row of alternating height rib-mounted Alpine SG33G snow guards, preventing snow and ice from sliding off the roof in hazardous sheets.
Additionally, the project featured the installation of 24-gauge Kynar finish shop-fabricated box gutters, thoughtfully paired with 3" x 4" corrugated downspouts, ensuring effective management of water runoff. The EPDM portion, with a 3-foot overhang at the entrance doors, included the mechanical fastening of a ¼-inch tapered insulation package to the wood deck. The installation culminated with the full adherence of a 60-mil Black EPDM membrane, complete with meticulously executed flashings, details, and terminations, all in strict adherence to the manufacturer's specifications. This comprehensive roof replacement not only ensures watertight protection but also enhances the aesthetic appeal and longevity of the Kyger Funeral Home, providing peace of mind to the community it serves.
