The Problem

Over the years, the roof of Asbury United Methodist Church had deteriorated significantly. The existing EPDM membrane, insulation, and other roofing components were showing signs of wear and tear. The church needed a durable, long-lasting roofing solution to protect its historic structure and ensure the safety and comfort of its congregation.

The Solution

To address these issues, we created an extensive re-roofing strategy. Each section required specific attention and expertise:

  1. Preparation and Removal

    • We started by removing outdated ductwork, gas lines, and insulation. This ensured a clean slate for the new roofing materials.

    • Thorough inspections were conducted to identify and replace any deteriorated materials, maintaining the roof's integrity.

  2. Insulation and Membrane Installation

    • New layers of polyiso insulation board were installed across all sections.

    • A fully adhered 60mil black EPDM membrane was applied, complete with detailed flashings and terminations, ensuring a watertight seal.

  3. Drainage Improvements

    • Tapered panels around drains and new retrofit drains were installed to facilitate positive drainage, preventing water accumulation and potential damage.

  4. Metal Components Installation

    • Kynar-finished metal components, such as drip edges, coping caps, and box gutters, were added. These elements enhanced the roof’s durability and aesthetic appeal.

  5. Special Features

    • Sections of the roof received Ecostar Majestic Synthetic Slate in Midnight Gray, providing both beauty and functionality.

    • Premium EPDM walkway pads and splash pads were installed at strategic locations for added protection and ease of access.

The Benefits

The re-roofing project delivered numerous benefits to Asbury United Methodist Church:

  1. Enhanced Protection

    • The new roof provides a robust, weather-resistant barrier, safeguarding the historic structure from the elements and preventing leaks and water damage.

  2. Improved Durability

    • High-quality materials and expert installation ensure the roof's longevity, reducing the need for frequent repairs and maintenance.

  3. Aesthetic Appeal

    • The addition of Ecostar Majestic Synthetic Slate and Kynar-finished metal components enhances the church's visual appeal, preserving its historic charm while offering modern protection.

  4. Efficient Drainage

    • Improved drainage systems prevent water accumulation, reducing the risk of structural damage and prolonging the roof's lifespan.

  5. Safety and Accessibility

    • Premium walkway pads and splash pads ensure safe access to roof areas, facilitating easier maintenance and inspections.
