Overcoming the Unique Challenge at Harrisonburg Public Works

The Problem

This project presents a unique challenge. This job involves installing 80-foot continuous standing seam metal panels. The sheer size and length of these panels, combined with the need to place them 30 feet in the air, required a more innovative and carefully planned approach.

The Solution

To address this challenge, we employed a crane to hoist the roll former and securely bolt it to the roof deck. This allows us to roll-form the panels directly on the roof itself. Following this, we lifted the metal coils, ensuring the panels could form and be installed. For safety, our team is donning their Personal Fall Arrest utilizing harnesses and connecting to temporary anchor points while working. Additionally, we are utilizing stanchions bolted to the roof and ratchet straps to secure the panels for storage at rooftop, preventing any wind-related incidents.

Our Advantage

Our innovative approach ensures the highest safety standards. By securing the roll former and panels directly on the roof, we minimize the risks of moving large panels from the ground to the roof. This method allows for efficient installation, as the panels are formed and placed in their final position without additional handling. We completed this portion of the project due to our team’s exceptional communication and collaboration skills. Their ability to work together seamlessly ensures a successful installation and the safety of everyone involved.

This project demonstrates our adaptive approach to unique challenges, reinforcing our position as leaders in the roofing industry. Stay tuned for updates on this project—we are incredibly excited to see how these 80-foot panels will look once the project is complete.
