Rockingham County Fairgrounds Steer Barn

Harrisonburg, VA | SF: 13,000 | General Contractor: Skyline Roofing, Inc.

The Problem

The Rockingham County Fairgrounds Steer Barn had issues with its aging roof, including damaged gutters and ridge vents that left sections of the barn exposed to weather. The fiberglass skylights caused discomfort due to excess light, and areas near the gutters were also showing signs of deterioration. We were engaged to focus on improving insulation, stopping leaks, and enhancing energy efficiency, all while preserving the existing roof.

The Solution:

To tackle this, our team at Skyline Roofing provided a retrofit solution that left the original metal roof in place but removed the old ridge vent and gutters. We then installed new metal roof panels over the skylights, the ridge vent opening, and damaged sections near the gutters. For better insulation, our team added new materials between and over the existing roof panels and installed a durable, weather-resistant TPO roof over the entire area. Additionally, our team added new gutters, fascia wrap, and downspouts to improve drainage.

The results are clear. The barn now benefits from better insulation, which helps keep the temperature more comfortable for the animals. The new roof system ensures long-term protection against leaks and weather damage. Our team completed the project quickly and efficiently, staying within the budget. This project highlights how we deliver practical, high-quality roofing solutions while keeping costs down and minimizing disruption.
