The Problem
The new construction of the Holtzman Convenience Store in Greenville, Virginia, required durable, high-quality roofing systems capable of withstanding environmental challenges designed in a way that maintained aesthetic appeal. The project scope included distinct roofing areas: a striking standing seam metal roof in “Cardinal Red” and a robust EPDM roof system for specific sections. The combination of design complexity, multiple material integration, and a need for long-term warranties meant that this project demanded both precision and expertise.
The Solution
Our team delivered a comprehensive solution by installing standing seam metal roofing using 16" aluminum panels with Kynar 500 paint with a "Cardinal Red" finish by Petersen Aluminum backed by a 20-year paint finish warranty. Custom metal trims, seam-mounted snow guards, fascia cladding, aluminum gutters, and aluminum downspouts completed the system, ensuring durability and a polished appearance.
We also installed a 60-mil reinforced Carlisle EPDM membrane over 1.5” polyiso insulation on the flat section. The system featured a 15-year manufacturer’s weathertight warranty and watertight flashing for three RTUs, as well as walkway pads for safe equipment access. White aluminum metal drip edges and fascia board cladding guaranteed a seamless finish.
The Benefits
Ultimately, the completed project provides the Holtzman Greenville Convenience Store with a roofing system that combines exceptional durability and energy efficiency with a visually striking design. The standing seam metal roof’s finish delivers a bold, modern aesthetic. With the new EPDM roof system, long-term reliability and protection against environmental stressors are stronger. With the integration of custom components and comprehensive warranties, the client can confidently rely on their roofing system for years to come.
