“NRCA maintains a certification with Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) for compliance of specific edge-metal flashings with ANSI/SPRI ES-1.
NRCA's UL certification applies to specific edge-metal flashings included in The NRCA Roofing Manual fabricated by specific NRCA members, referred to as "authorized fabricators," who subscribe and adhere to NRCA's and UL's process for certification. Edge-metal flashings to which NRCA's UL certification applies bear a UL classification mark label, typically applied to the unexposed backside of the flashing system.
NRCA's UL certification for compliance with ANSI/SPRI ES-1 provides for third-party verification of compliance by a code-approved test agency. Although such third-party verification is not a specific requirement of the International Building Code and may not be required by project specification requirements, it does provide credible, independent means of showing specific shop-fabricated edge-metal flashings comply with ANSI/SPRI ES-1.”
