Shenandoah Community Health, a trusted healthcare provider in Martinsburg, West Virginia, embarked on a crucial roofing project to fortify the integrity of their roofing system. The project included a detailed inspection of the existing EPDM membrane, with a focus on identifying and resolving issues related to wet or damaged insulation. About 100 square feet of damaged insulation was replaced within a 10'x10' area to ensure a robust roofing foundation. An insulation upgrade introduced a single layer of 20 PSI 1.5” polyiso insulation over the existing EPDM and polyiso insulation, improving energy efficiency and insulation properties.

The project featured the mechanical fastening of a 60 mil TPO roofing membrane using Induction Weld technology. This TPO membrane provided enhanced weather resistance and durability, addressing the facility's primary roofing needs. To optimize water drainage, ¼” taper panels were installed around 19 roof drains, reducing the risk of ponding and water damage.

The project encompassed the addition of 24-gauge, Kynar finish, shop-fabricated coping on parapet walls, offering protection and aesthetic appeal. A 24-gauge Kynar finish, shop-fabricated gravel stop was also implemented around the entrance canopy perimeter for effective water runoff. Furthermore, 19 retrofit drains with inserts were installed to maintain reliable drainage. To protect the roofing system from potential equipment maintenance issues, a sacrificial TPO membrane was positioned beneath two mechanical units and one satellite dish. Additionally, 350 feet of premium TPO walkway pads matched existing walkway paths, ensuring safe access for maintenance personnel and preserving the roofing system's integrity. This comprehensive project secured the healthcare facility with a dependable roofing system, allowing it to continue its vital services to the community.
